The KLOPSE or Cape Minstrels, as they have come to be known recently, are troupes of music-makers who walk through the central streets of Cape Town annually at the start of the new year to mark the freedom that their forefathers gained. They paint their faces and take over town with their loud sounds. These are photos from January 2 — the date when they hit the streets annually.
